Before the board meeting on Monday, July 10, 2017, Executive Director, Christine Watkins, presented a certificate to Mrs. Nancy LaFave and her daughter, Kim. The certificate was to posthumously honor Vernon LaFave for his 20 years of service on the District Board of Directors. Vern also represented the District on the Black River – St. Lawrence RC&D Council. He attended various local and national events on behalf of the District.
The LaFave family received a replacement plaque for their 1980 Conservation Farm of the Year award and a certificate from Assemblywoman Jenne for their Dairy of Distinction Award. Both past awards were lost in their house fire earlier this year.
