On Monday, May 20, three (3) forestry interns joined us for the summer. These young men are recent graduates from the Ranger School.
L-R: Ricky Salamone (Rochester), Tom Keenan (Maryland), and Nate Tyler (Adams) will be working with our Certified Forester, Patrick Crast, to conduct an inventory of our County Forest. There are nearly 5500 acres, so they will have a busy summer!
In addition, they will be traveling the roads throughout the County highways and assessing ash trees. “The emerald ash borer (EAB) is an invasive beetle from Asia that infests and kills North American ash species including green, white, black and blue ash. All of New York’s native ash trees are susceptible to EAB.” (NYS DEC) For more information, click here: https://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/7253.html
Welcome, Ricky, Tom, and Nate!
