The District would like to plant riparian forest buffers along streams throughout Jefferson County.  These buffers improve water quality, reduce pollution, and create healthier stream ecosystems.  They also improve recreation (fishing, hunting, hiking, etc.) and enhance property values.  Riparian forest buffers are a great benefit to farms to improve soil quality and reduce flooding.   There are numerous human health benefits when planting trees, not only are they aesthetically pleasing, but they improve our air and water quality.

If you have a stream running through your property please contact us if you’re interested in seeing a riparian forest buffer in place to obtain these benefits.  If you produce an ag or forest product (or if you rent land to a farmer), please contact us.   Funding sources vary depending on the property location, but we are interested in protecting your stream.
